Refika Zuhal Gılıç is an English lecturer at Vocational College of Ayancık in Sinop University and a PHD thesis period student in Sakarya University at the department of Translation Studies. This tentative research can be viewed as an inquiry of a well-known, literary-rooted Audiovisual Translation (AVT) example (Great Gatsby - 2013 film version) from the most holistic translation theory's perspective called Skopos Theory. The book you hold created as a MA thesis originally and has been designed as an academic work to investigate Skopos Theory's operability in multimodal translation in respects of cultural, social, moral and more of the same offers of information to depict a specific period of time.
Academic fields of interest belong to the author are AVT, subtitle translation, cultural studies and translation, literature and translation, machine (aided) translation (MT), critical discourse analysis (CDA), contemporary interpreting studies, corpus-based interpreting studies (CIST), discourse analysis (DA) and political interpreting, sociology of translation, translation technologies and also orientalism in translations. Currently, the author works on a model of political DA specific to interpreting event which can be applied by a new modal called PIM (Personalized Interpreting Modeling) which can be presented as a new field of personalized interpreting services for VIPs, international speakers, agents and also corporations. This last PHD study of her aims to create an introductive model which will comprise of an effective infrastructure for the applications of Artificial Intelligence Aided Pim Studies (AIAPS) under the umbrella term of Artificial Intelligence Aided Interpreting Studies (AIAIS) which is expected to gather momentum in the near future.
