The Turkish and Islamci Arts Museum, with this catalogue of its kilim collection begins its program to make available similar works on each of its separate museum collections.

The Museum's other unsurpassable collections of Turkish and Islamic arts are better know. This volume, concerned with the classification of kilims an area not previously (presented-will be) followed bu publications on the other collections.

From the inception of its hundred year history, the Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum began collecting kilims and flatweaves, but it was only in 1973 that for the first time a small and select number of kilims and flatweaves were exhibited in the Imaret of the Suleymaniye Complex, the museum's location at that time.
