The acquisition of the four skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing plays a major role in thesuccessful learning of the second language (L2) for learners. Around the world, the ever-growingsignificance of English language teaching has made it necessary for learners to have good communicationskills in both social and academic surroundings. In order for an effective communication to take place, thereis undoubtedly a substantial burden on the shoulders of EFL teachers while teaching these skills. Beingaware of the importance of communication skills for EFL learners, EFL teachers need to teach languagelearners how to speak the target language with some fluency. However, it is a considerable fact that speakingdoes not of itself constitute communication unless what is being said is comprehended adequately by anotherperson. With this in mind, a considerable number of researchers have stated that listening is an essentialmeans of communication, and that it is an integral part of the process of hearing, understanding,remembering, interpreting, evaluating, and responding. As a significant skill which plays a fundamental rolenot only in communication but also in interpersonal relationships, listening has unfortunately long beengiven the least importance in language education. In recent years, however, with the increasing demand andattention on communication in the process of language learning, listening has been given more importance.
Considering this, learners are expected to be able to listen efficiently in order to maintain continuity inacademic success. This is considered necessary, especially when they follow their lectures or want to studyabroad.
