Many Years Ago, King Shahriar ruled over the land of Arabia. He lived in a splendid palace, where glittering fountains filled the courtyards with tinkling musiz. His storehouses were heaped high with rare and precious treasures. He dad a wife whom he loved dearly, and many slaves to carry out his smallest wish. He should have been one of the happiest men in the world.

And so he was, until one day he found his wife ploting against him. He had her put to death at once, but still his rage was not satisfied.
